The notification for the stenographer group ‘C’ and group ‘D’ recruitment was released through the official website of SSC on July 26, 2024. The stenographer recruitment is conducted every year by the SSC to recruit candidates for Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘D’ posts across various ministries, departments, and organizations under the Government of India. Candidates are selected on the basis of a computer test and a skill-based test, both conducted at two different stages.


The application window to register for the SSC Stenographer examination was between July 26 and August 17, 2024. As the final day of registration has passed, candidates can no longer apply for the exam. The recruitment consists of a total of 2006 vacancies under the Grade C and D stenographer posts. According to the SSC calendar, the examination for the stenographer recruitment is scheduled to take place in mid-October–November. SSC Stenographer 2024 Recruitment

Eligibility Criteria For SSC Stenographer recruitment 2024


There are certain criteria that a candidate must fulfil to appear for the stenographer exam. Some of those criteria in terms of education, age, and skills are given below:

 

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates should have passed at least the 12th grade from a recognised board or university. You can go through the notification to get more details about the educational requirements.


  • Age Limit : Candidates must be at least 18 years when applying for the stenographer examination. Those candidates who are applying for Grade ‘C’ Posts should not be above 30 years, while for the Grade ‘D’ posts, the maximum age is set at 27 years.  However age relaxation is given to candidates belonging to OBC, and SC/ST categories.


  • Shorthand Skills : To be eligible for the Grade ‘C’ Posts, candidates must have the ability to finish a 10-minute dictation at a speed of 100 words per minute (wpm). However for the Grade ‘D’ posts, the pace to complete the dictation is reduced to 80 wpm. Candidates can complete this task in either English or Hindi language.

Selection Process And Exam Pattern For SSC Stenographer Examination 2024


The first stage for stenographer recruitment is the computer-based test (CBT) exam. Candidates who passed the CBT exam with minimum qualifying marks will then be called for the stenography skill test. After qualifying for the skill test, candidates will be moved to the final phase, where they have to submit their documents and go through a medical test to ensure they are medically fit for the job.

The question paper for the CBT exam will include only multiple-choice questions. Apart from the English language section, the questions in the other two sections will be set in both English and Hindi. It is also important to note that 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer in the exam.
